The book that im reading is called Ethans Voice and it tells you about this little boy called Ethan and he can not speak he did but one day he just stopped and he want to know why he stopped speaking. Along the way he meets a new friend and her name is Polly and she want to help Ethan find his voice again. So can Polly help Ethan find his voice for will he be stuck like this forever!!!.

My Food Explanation

Hangi

My family and I celebrate Maori language week, because my family is Maori. Every year, some of my family from all of the country come to my house a night before and then we go into the sitting room and sleep there until tomorrow. When we wake up we have our breakfast.

For our breakfast we have sometimes pancakes or waffles. My cousins and I have to say the maori prayer called a karakia before we eat on the day that Maori language week starts. After breakfast we go outside for a walk, and then have lunch at Nan’s house.

For our lunch out at my Nan’s house we have a hangi. My uncles have to wake up super early to get to my Nan’s and get everything sorted out, like digging the big hole and getting the stones ready, and the food from the shed, and the freezer were my poppa stores them until that day. With the hangi we have:

- kumura

- potatoes

- pumpkin

- rosemary

- carrots

For dinner we have pork roast and chicken, mixed with some watercress, and some silverbeet, pumpkin, potatoes, kumara, and some carrots. We again have to say a karakia before we eat our dinner.

After dinner we have some pudding but while my Nan cooks the pudding.  My family and I go down to the beach,  and have a quick swim or we just play at the playground while she cooks it. My Nan always makes her favourite apple crumble with cream. My family like to have snacks, after we have finished our day off.

I like Maori language week because I get to see my family. My favourite part about it is the desert because my Nan makes the best apple crumble in the world and the next one to get the recipe is me!

Have you wondered where chocolate comes from? Well if you have seen this movie you will know. I got into this movie because I like how the graphics are made and the chocolate fountain how it flows through the streams and rivers everywhere they go.

The characters names are Willy Wonka, Veruca Salt, Grandpa, Joe Arthur Slugworth, Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregard Mike Teavee, Mrs. Bucket, Mr. Turkentine, Mr. Salt and Charlie Bucket. This movie is about a boy who loves chocolate and him and his grandfather go on a trip to go to the Chocolate Factory and try to win the competition.  The competition is if you last the longest in the factory then you get to win a big prize.

But in the end there can only be one person left. Can you guess who wins? Well it’s…  a mystery and that’s why I like this movie because it tells you a story and it leaves you a mystery at the end.

Today at tech we went onto a website at code.org/learn. We played a game which made us learn how to programme using code and also we made a prezi about how to play the game. I really enjoyed it I wish we could do more

Netball

Do you know how to play netball?  All you need to know is the positions, how to play the positions and the rules about how to play netball. First of all you will need to know about the positions.

The positions in netball are  kind of  hard. You  have to remember where to stand, where to run, where you're not allowed to step or run with the ball. The positions are C, WD, WA, GD, GA, GK and finally GS. The C stands for center, WD stands for wing defence, WA stands for wing attack, GD stands for goal defence, GA stands for goal attack, GK stands for goal keep and last but not least is GS stands for goal shoot. All of these positions are played on the court and have tactics to play the positions.

The netball court is divided into thirds. The GS stands at the shooting third and the GK stand at the defending third. They are only allowed in there own third. GA, GD, WA, and WD are allowed in two thirds. The GA and GD are allowed in the shooting third and the center third. The WA and WD are allowed in the defending third and the center third. Next is C (center), they are allowed all over the court, but not in the shooting semicircle and the defending semicircle. GA and GS are the only ones that are allowed to shoot for their team. GK and GD are the only ones that are allowed in the defending circle, but WD and WA have to try and get the ball down to their shooting side. In your team you have to have a really good GS because when they shoot you will get a lot points.

The rules are an important things to remember you have make sure your fingernails aren’t allowed to be over your fingertips they have to be no more than 1 mm long. You also aren’t allowed to wear jewellery while playing, you can’t run/walk with the ball, you must be at least 3 feet away from your opponents when they have the ball, and you can’t hit the ball out of your opponents hands when they have it.  You aren’t allowed to go over your boundaries, and you can’t bounce the ball while chasing after it. You would need to follow these rules, if you want to play netball professionally.

I hope you have learnt something about netball. Now you know the positions and how to play your positions and last of all you know the rules. So when you play you know everything about it, and maybe you would end up playing for the silver ferns.

If It were only yesterday

I remember as if it were yesterday

My Nan always used to say that phrase “I remember as if were yesterday.” She used to say that whenever something triggers an old memory and every times she says it she tells me her stories and where they took place. My Nan loved that saying, she would say it while looking out into the meadow. Sometimes she would only say it in her sleep but not anymore. My Nan who always said that has passed, but on her gravestone says “I remember as if it were yesterday”.
